QUALMS

QUALMS is an (often) anxiety-ridden, dream pop collaboration between Justin Mantell & Darin Thompson.

» Epitonic adds QUALMS to the mix.

Darin and I practically grew up following this blog and arguing over who really started listening to what band first, spending many a ride to and from shows bragging of our newest “Epitonic discoveries” via hand-me-down first generation iPods connected to countless weak signaled cassette converters jammed into the half-broken tape deck of my van.

I feel sixteen (in a good way), with an Epitonic wind in my ears.

Day four.

Currently on day four of recording our LP, and we’ve successfully tracked eight our of eleven songs. We will have lots of pictures and videos of us recording that we will be sharing soon. #gettingpsyched

nothingsoundsbetter:

“Polarized” and “Ghost Bones” - QUALMS

QUALMS have posted a two-track teaser over at Bandcamp for the cost of “name your price” off of their upcoming Big Broken EP which is set for release on March 6th. “Polarized” is a robust electronic-infused track that is asking to be put on repeat for the next hour. “Ghost Bones” features their mates in Orca Orca and follows a more ambient path. It is an understated song that never pushes too far or comes across too light. It’s a good balance to the more full-natured “Polarized.”

It has me anticipating the debut from the group early next month. Not to mention, they’ve got a digital 7” set to release shortly thereafter. If you’re a fan of this band, it looks like they want to make sure you’ve got plenty of material to satiate your appetite.

» "Clever QUALMS"

Ross Condit on Polarized: “… drum machines help to punctuate some pretty clever, snarky lyrics that are masked by the happy tune tones.”
